{"id":5398,"date":"2021-02-24T13:53:44","date_gmt":"2021-02-24T13:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.20i.com\/blog\/?p=5398"},"modified":"2026-01-08T11:34:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T11:34:05","slug":"essential-wordpress-plugins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.20i.com\/blog\/essential-wordpress-plugins\/","title":{"rendered":"11 essential WordPress plugins you may have missed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the great things about&nbsp;using&nbsp;WordPress is&nbsp;access&nbsp;to&nbsp;the huge ecosystem of 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;party&nbsp;plugins.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time of writing,&nbsp;there are nearly 60,000&nbsp;free&nbsp;plugins available within&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en-gb.wordpress.org\/plugins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WordPress\u2019 plugin directory<\/a>&nbsp;alone.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We all know about&nbsp;the million+ installs&nbsp;like&nbsp;Akismet, Contact Form 7 and&nbsp;Yoast&nbsp;SEO.&nbsp;In this&nbsp;article&nbsp;I&#8217;m&nbsp;looking at&nbsp;some&nbsp;lesser-known plugins.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s worth noting that if you are a 20i <a href=\"https:\/\/www.20i.com\/wordpress-hosting\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"WordPress Hosting\">WordPress Hosting<\/a> customer you don\u2019t need plugins to:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minify your CSS\/JS&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Combine multiple CSS\/JS files&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect to a CDN&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take backups&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set-up caching&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optimise&nbsp;images&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lazy load&nbsp;images&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Block traffic by country or IP address&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.20i.com\/wordpress-tools\">WordPress staging<\/a>&nbsp;environments&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can&nbsp;do all&nbsp;this&nbsp;from within your My20i&nbsp;control panel&nbsp;without any drag on your website\u2019s page load times.&nbsp;With that&nbsp;in mind,&nbsp;I have not included plugins that duplicate&nbsp;these.&nbsp;If you\u2019re not a 20i&nbsp;customer, have a&nbsp;look at&nbsp;our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.20i.com\/wordpress-hosting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WordPress Hosting<\/a>&nbsp;.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e4deb9;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#fef8d3;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">One final note:&nbsp;not&nbsp;every plugin listed below will be appropriate or relevant to your use case.&nbsp;Really think about the value they are going to bring to your site. Managing and removing dozens, is a pain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This plugin&nbsp;adds an&nbsp;\u201cx\u201d button to delete an item&nbsp;and&nbsp;\u201cxx\u201d to delete an item and all its sub items.
