Celebrating 10 years of innovation at 20i

Ten years ago, we set out to build a hosting platform that puts you first; no shortcuts, no off the shelf technology and a genuine focus on what our customers want, all backed by exceptional customer support. 

A decade on, we’re still driven by the same thing.

Every feature we’ve shipped, every support conversation we’ve had, every improvement to the platform has come from listening to resellers, agencies, businesses and developers like you. 

Ten years of milestones 

What started with a new approach to hosting in 2016 has grown into a platform serving more than one million websites around the world.

Here are some of the milestones that got us here.

• 2016 saw the launch of 20i and our own autoscaling cloud hosting platform, built from the ground up to move beyond the limitations of conventional single-server hosting. We launched with Reseller Hosting, WordPress Hosting and Web Hosting available on this cutting-edge platform.
• 2017 brought our first Virtual Private Servers, expanding 20i beyond shared and reseller hosting and giving customers greater control over their hosting infrastructure.
• 2018 brought StackCP, our purpose-built hosting control panel, giving resellers a fully white-label way for their customers to manage websites, email, domains and databases. We also strengthened platform security with StackProtect, our own always-on system for detecting and blocking brute-force login attacks.
• 2019 brought HostShop, giving resellers a free storefront to sell hosting under their own brand. We also launched our first WordPress tools and delivered more than 1,000 control panel updates that year. Major HostShop upgrades followed in 2022 and 2025.
• 2020 saw the launch of our free content delivery network, bringing edge caching to every hosting customer without the cost of a separate CDN service.
• 2021 marked our first major step into international hosting infrastructure, with the opening of our first origin data centre in the United States.
• 2022 saw us move to green hosting, with our platform powered by 100% renewable energy.
• 2023 brought Managed Cloud Servers across 20iCloud, AWS and Google Cloud. Today, customers can choose from more than 60 data centre locations around the world.
• 2024 saw the launch of Website Turbo, giving resellers a way to offer white-label, high-frequency hosting to customers who need even more performance.
• 2025 brought our latest Managed WordPress Hosting platform, combining high-availability infrastructure with high-frequency compute, CDN pre-cache and WordPress-specific performance technology.
• 2026 saw us open our latest data centre in Singapore, extending 20i infrastructure into Asia and giving customers another choice of where to host their websites.

Award-winning support 

Support at 20i is part of the product.

 Every conversation is handled by people who understand hosting infrastructure, not a script, so questions always get answered by someone who can actually solve the problem. 

🏆 That approach has earned us recognition across the industry. For three consecutive years, we’ve been named Best Web Host at the PC Pro Awards.

In 2025, we received a 99% customer service score (the highest awarded to any business in any category) alongside 98% for reliability and 99% for customers who would recommend us, based on more than 5,000 votes.

Our support remains entirely in-house. Nobody using 20i gets passed to a third-party call centre or an outsourced team reading from a script.

Awards are great, but the standard we hold ourselves to goes further: fast responses, clear technical explanations and the same level of care for every customer. 

Ten years of building our own way

➡️ One of the biggest decisions we made was to build and develop our own platforms.

That meant we weren’t tied to the limitations of an off-the-shelf hosting stack, and it  gave us the freedom to keep improving the platform around what our customers actually needed. 

Over the years, that approach has shaped everything from our autoscaling infrastructure and StackCP to My20i, HostShop, Website Turbo and the tools agencies and developers use every day.

It also means those different parts of 20i work together as one platform.

Web, database, FTP and email services operate across separate roles in our infrastructure, while security, DNS, CDN and backups are integrated rather than relying on a collection of third-party products.

For customers, the result is simpler: one place to manage hosting, websites, domains, clients and infrastructure.

That ability to respond and evolve has been one of the most important parts of our first ten years.

A platform that has grown with our customers

The 20i of 2026 is very different from the company that launched in 2016.

What started with our own autoscaling hosting platform now spans reseller hosting, Managed WordPress Hosting, Virtual Private Servers and cloud infrastructure across more than 60 data centre locations.

But growth hasn’t just meant adding more products.

It has meant improving how websites scale, strengthening security, giving agencies better ways to manage clients and teams, expanding internationally and continuing to invest in infrastructure we control.

Every hosting package also benefits from our free, unlimited CDN with edge pre-caching, helping serve content closer to visitors without a separate CDN subscription.

Our autoscaling platform has continued to evolve as websites and applications have become more demanding, while technologies such as Website Turbo, high-frequency compute and CDN pre-caching have pushed performance further.

Security has developed alongside it. DDoS protection, a Web Application Firewall, brute-force login protection, two-factor authentication, malware scanning, FTP Lock and SSL certificates are integrated into the platform rather than treated as optional extras.

And as our customers have grown, so have the tools available to manage their businesses.

My20i gives customers one place to manage websites, domains and infrastructure, while agencies and developers can use tools such as bulk management, Git integration, staging, cloning, team permissions and Agency Hub to manage larger portfolios.

Twentie, our AI assistant, is another example of how the platform continues to evolve, providing instant help directly inside My20i.

Growth has also meant taking responsibility for how our infrastructure operates. Since 2022, our hosting platform has been powered by 100% renewable energy, helping us reduce its environmental impact without compromising on speed or reliability.
