To transfer a .io domain to us, you’ll need to get the domain name authorisation code from your current provider.
Then, you need to search for it in our ‘Transfer a domain’ tool in our control panel, My20i. You can then start the transfer, which can take up to five days (usually less, and your website will remain online). Once transferred you’ll start saving on renewals. Should I register other versions of my .io domain name?
That is up to you, but to be safe and protect your brand, we’d recommend buying other versions of your company name with different popular top-level domains.
For example, if you had the yourcompany.io web address, a competitor or criminal could buy yourcompany.com. They could use it to compete, or even worse: fool your customers into being scammed.
