No: with 20i, what you pay in the first year is the same price as renewal. That way, you can make savings of up to 50% compared to other domain name registrars, so you save money in the long term.

Should I register other versions of my domain name if I choose a .scot TLD?
That’s up to you, but to be safe and protect your brand, we’d recommend buying other versions of your company name with different popular top-level domains.
For example, if you had the yourcompany.scot web address, a competitor or criminal could buy yourcompany.com. They could use it to compete, or even worse: fool your customers into being scammed.
How would I transfer my .scot domain to you?

Then, you need to search for it in our ‘Transfer a domain’ tool in our control panel, My20i. You can then start the transfer, which can take up to five days (but your website will remain online). You’ll be charged a transferral fee, but you’ll get one year’s registration.
