What restrictions are there around the .ltd.uk domain?
First, you need to be registered as a private limited company at Companies House in the UK, and be entitled to use ‘Limited’, ‘ltd.’, ‘cyfyngedig’ or ‘cyf’ (Welsh versions) in your company name. You can’t use ‘limited’ or variant of the word in the third level domain, like ‘20iLtd.ltd, for example.
Also if your company name ends with ‘company’. ‘and company’, ‘cwmni’, ‘a’r cwmni’ or abbreviations of these, then they should be removed from the web address.
There are also other standard restrictions - like no punctuation marks except hyphens - which we won’t detail here, but you can find full details from Nominet here.
How do I transfer my .ltd.uk domain?
